As an early television actress, Phyllis Coates is best remembered for her role as the first Lois Lane in "The Adventures of Superman." She appeared in the first 26 episodes, filmed from 1951-1953, before moving on to comedic television roles. In 1954 Coates appeared in "The Duke" as Gloria; in 1955 she played Nurse Madge Allen in "Professional Father;" and from 1958-59, she starred as Mrs. Holliday in "This Is Alice."
