LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.coom) - The Weinstein Co. has purchased television rights to Daniel Stashower's New York Times bestseller, "The Hour of Peril."

Project is currently eyed as a historical thriller and TV miniseries, with Brendan Deneen and Charles Spicer attached to executive produce for Macmillan Films.

"Daniel Stashower's 'The Hour of Peril' is an untold and landmark moment in American history, with the suspense and fervor of a crime thriller, which will make for immensely captivating television," TWC's television president Meryl Poster said in a statement.

The nonfiction "The Hour of Peril," published by Minotaur Books in February, tells the story of detective Allan Pinkerton and Kate Warne, America's first female private eye, who prevent a plot to assassinate then-President-Elect Abraham Lincoln before he could take his oath of office.

TWC currently produces Lifetime's "Project Runway," VH1's "Mob Wives," HBO's "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency and the upcoming Netflix series, "Marco Polo," among others.
