Based on the book of the same name, Sex In The City portrayed a somewhat realistic, and often explicit, view of life of four single women in New York City. The show centered around somewhat savvy Carrie Bradshaw. Played by Sarah Jessica Parker, Bradshaw was the polar opposite of Parker's first major role; awkward teen, Patty Greene, in the 1981 series Square Pegs. Sex in the City often pushed the envelope as far as subject matter, but was popular enough to keep the series running for 6 seasons and generate two feature films.
