Famous for producing and directing some of the funniest movies of all time, Brooks initially made a name for himself in television. As a young man, Brooks was a writer for Your Show of Shows, where he collaborated with Carl Reiner. It has been said that Brooks was the inspiration for the Buddy Sorrel character on Reiner’s sitcom creation, The Dick Van Dyke Show. Brooks other television credits include co-creator of Get Smart and a short-lived predecessor to his feature film, Robin Hood: Men In Tights called When Things Were Rotten. Brooks, along with Reiner, were honored with the Legend award at the 2010 TV Land Awards.
