However, if you are (or look like) a 20-something who's feeling disenfranchised and doesn't really want to hang out in Zuccotti Park now that winter is coming, MTV could have just the opportunity for you.
'The Real World' 27 has had an open casting call up and running for some time now, but eager to embrace the zeitgeist and find some politically aware housemates, the casting directors have placed an on New York City's Craigslist specifically targeting the Occupy Wall Street protesters. If you're enticed by "Part of Occupy Wall Street? Real World 27 Wants You!" then roll up the sleeping bag and read on after the jump to find out more.
The ad reads: "MTV's Real World is seeking cast members to tell their unique stories on our show. If you are over the age of 20 and appear to be between the ages of 20-24, and the description below sounds like you, we want to hear from you!
"Are you a part of the OCCUPY WALL STREET movement?
"Please attach 3 RECENT PHOTOS and a brief BIO, including your full NAME, DATE OF BIRTH (for ID purposes only) as well as your CONTACT INFORMATION including PHONE #."
Sasha Alpert, Senior Vice President of casting for Bunim/Murray Productions, told 'Entertainment Weekly' that "We are always looking for people who are involved in whatever is going on in the world around them. We are always looking for passionate people."
Alpert said that the show has a history of finding great cast members in New York, and that she hopes that a passionate member of the OWS movement will sign up for the series as a way of getting their message across to a wider audience.
Potential candidates take note: Just because you feel economically, socially or politically disenfranchised it doesn't mean you won't fit in at MTV: "We want everyone to feel comfortable coming to the open calls. We want a broad spectrum of people."
'The Real World' airs Wed., 10PM ET on MTV.
