The actress confirmed to Vulture that her character, Pam, will also be expecting when we return to Scranton for season 8. " Pam will be pregnant when the season starts," she told Vulture.
While some shows have to scramble to come up with a believable story as to why a character is pregnant (see: 'Bones'), a bun in the oven actually makes sense for Pam and her husband, Jim, who already have a toddler.
Even more conveniently, a plot point from 'The Office''s Valentine's Day episode gives writers the perfect back story for the new baby. "Pam and Jim snuck away last season on Valentine's Day, and they had sex. The story is that they conceived this baby at that time and were keeping it a secret until we come back from the summer," Fischer told Vulture.
One downside: If the writers had chosen to keep Fischer's bump out of the show, the "let's try to hide this pregnancy as ridiculously as possible" game could've rivaled the season both Alyson Hannigan and Cobie Smulders were both pregnant on 'How I Met Your Mother.'
'The Office' returns Thu., Sept. 22 at 9PM on NBC.
