The Amazing Spider-Man Spins Strong Web at Box Office, Katy Perry Leaves Audiences Cold

The Amazing Spider-Man

The Amazing Spider-Man didn't soar quite as high as the original trilogy, but it easily won the weekend after an explosive Fourth of July.

The reboot of the 2002 franchise, now starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, grossed an estimated $65 million over the weekend, according to Box Office Mojo, bringing its six-day total $140 million. The haul was just short of the original Spider-Man's first six days of release ($144.2 million), but significantly lower than Spider-Man 2 ($180.1 million) and Spider-Man 3 ($176.2 million).
