CBS announced in March that the reality hit would return for a 19th edition in the fall, and today the network revealed that it has already renewed 'TAR' for a 20th season.
Teams will race around the world on a million-dollar quest for the 20th time in spring 2012. In the meantime, season 19 will premiere this fall.
When AOL TV spoke to host Phil Keoghan last month, he confirmed that season 19 will begin filming this summer. "We've been lining up our cast for 19 and are very excited about the next season," he said. "Hopefully we'll be getting picked up for a while yet. I think the show, the season, with the advent of adding HD -- the show was screaming for HD and I think it's gone to a new level."
Though each cycle of the Race requires months of prep work, Keoghan told us that the actual race takes less than a month to complete. "The entire season of 'The Amazing Race' is shot in 23 days. That means 12 episodes and less than two days to complete one episode," he said.
Season 19 is scheduled to premiere this fall in its traditional Sundays at 8PM time slot.
