Future Voice contestants may be in for a big surprise when those red chairs turn around. Usher and Shakira are nearing deals to join the singing competition for its upcoming fourth season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
NBC is beginning to assemble a new group of coaches/mentors for The Voicenow that it has become increasingly clear that at least some of the original foursome won't be back to push their buttons so soon.

In a recent interview with Ryan Seacrest, Christina Aguilera said she was eager to get back to touring. Her new album, Lotus, is set to hit stores in November. "I've had a lot of fun with the show, but I cannot wait to get back to meet my fans and being on the road," she said. "First and foremost, I'm a creative spirit and a creative soul."
During an August news conference for Season 3, executive producer Mark Burnett said the judges' departures were inevitable. "It won't be if, it's when. They're all going to tour. We're talking about it all the time," he said.

However, even if she leaves The Voice, Aguilera told Billboard that she would "probably be back. I just need to do my thing for a minute then I can come back and be that much better of a coach. I just need a second to get back to me."
It's unclear who is in consideration to fill the other two empty red chairs alongside Usher and Shakira should they sign on. Also, which coach will get to have a pet mascot for the next season? (Might we suggest a fuzzy and easily transportable hamster?) The big question is whether the new panel of judges would be able to match the chemistry of the original coaches.
