Paul Rudd Will Guest Star On 'Parks & Recreation,' Dermot Mulroney Joins 'New Girl' & More Casting News

Leslie Knope's campaign for Panwee City Council may hit a bump in the road thanks to a new guest star. Paul Rudd will play a political opponent on an upcoming episode of "Parks and Recreation" (Thursdays, 8:30 p.m. EST on NBC), according to Vulture.

The actor, who can next be seen in "Wanderlust" opposite Jennifer Aniston, will appear in at least one episode of the NBC comedy. Other upcoming guest stars include "Free Agents'" Kathryn Hahn as an adviser to one of Leslie's opponents and Carl Reiner as a powerful Pawnee elder.

Some of Rudd's other TV roles include a recurring arc on "Friends," an episode of "Veronica Mars" and a voice role on "The Simpsons."

In other casting news ...

  • Jess is getting an older love interest on "New Girl." Dermot Mulroney will guest star in multiple episodes in spring 2012 as a new love interest for Zooey Deschanel's lead character. [TVLine]
  • "The Good Wife" is opening its doors to a busload of returning guest stars for its Feb. 19 episode. Along with Jonathan Groff and Rita Wilson, Parker Posey, Denis O’Hare, Edward Herrmann, John Benjamin Hickey, Amy Sedaris, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Anna Camp, Monica Raymund and Jack Carpenter will make appearances in the episode about Lockhard & Gardner's class action lawsuit against a software company.   • "Facts of Life" alumna Geri Jewel will take a trip to Fox's newest mystery "Alcatraz." The actress -- who is best known for her groundbreaking portrayal of cousin Geri -- will appear in '60s flashbacks as deputy prison warden E.B. Tiller's (Jason Butler Harner) eccentric sister. "Alcatraz" makes its debut on Mon., Jan. 16, at 8 p.m. EST. [TVLine]
