Olympics: Did Usain Bolt Make History?

Date August 09, 2012

Usain Bolt

[SPOILER ALERT: The following story reveals the outcome of Thursday's track and field final.]

Usain Bolt can call himself a legend.

The sprint king defended his 200-meter Olympic crown Thursday, cruising to the finish in 19.32 seconds to lead a Jamaican sweep. Bolt is now the first man to defend the 200 and the first to sweep the 100 and 200 in consecutive Olympics.

Olympics: The top moments (so far!)

Bolt's training partner and 100-meter silver medalist Yohan Blake won the silver (19.44) and Warren Weir earned the bronze (19.84).

After repeating in the 100 on Sunday, Bolt, who turns 26 on Aug. 21, said that he won't consider himself a legend until he wins the 200 again. He did so in his trademark effortless fashion, blasting off the blocks and flying around the turn with huge loping strides. Blake was close after the turn, but Bolt powered away in the straightaway.

Bolt now has five Olympic gold medals and can add a sixth in the 4x100-meter relay on Saturday.

Do you think Usain Bolt is a track legend?
