Martin Lawrence is eying a return to TV with a new CBS project.
According to Vulture, CBS and Lawrence are in negotiations to have the actor star and executive produce a comedy series.
No writer has been named.
The 'Big Momma's House' actor shot to fame with the Fox series 'Martin.' Airing from 1992-1997, the comedy produced 132 episodes and helped make a still-struggling Fox a major network player.
Aside from playing the titular character, Lawrence portrayed several others, including the next door neighbor Sheneneh Jenkins. During the first season, the series was watched by more than 11 million viewers.
The deal between CBS and Lawrence is still in the works, but if it goes through a Lawrence-fronted series could appear on the network during the 2012-13 season.
