'Dope,' a new HBO project from the producers of 'Mildred Pierce,' has an interesting title, but even more intriguing logline: It's the 1950s and Julianne Moore is an ex-heroin addict and private investigator.
According to Deadline, 'Mildred Pierce' director/executive producer Todd Haynes and executive producers John Wells and Christine Vachon are looking to turn Sara Gran's novel, 'Dope' into a drama for HBO. Haynes may direct the project with a script by Gran.
Moore is currently playing Sarah Palin in HBO's 'Game Change,' a TV movie about the 2008 presidential election.
Hm, an A-List actress, a period drama and HBO? Smells like Emmys to us! 'Mildred Pierce' is currently up for 21 awards.
