The lights are on, China, but we're not home -- or so Larry Wilmore thinks we should pretend.
The hilarious actor and "Senior Black Correspondent" for 'The Daily Show' (weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) dropped in to discuss Obama's presidency and the debt crisis with Jon Stewart, and he seemed to think the best defense is a good hiding place when China comes to collect on the $1.16 trillion America currently owes.
Wilmore also lamented the focus on Obama's race in current political debate: "America finally gets its first black president and our credit goes bad -- f***!" he joked. "Republicans have been looking for the perfect black stereotype to bring down Obama's presidency for a while -- they keep pointing out how much he likes basketball, they called his 50th birthday party a 'Hip-Hop BBQ' ..."
But when Stewart suggested that Obama needs to get ahead of the stereotypes in order to fight them, Wilmore had a different approach.
"No, no, Jon -- it's too late; we're in the red, now it's time to go blacker," he deadpanned.
