JoAnna Garcia's Animal Magnetism

Date October 10, 2012

JoAnna Garcia

There may be a new lady tangling with George (Justin Kirk) in this week's episode of Animal Practice, but we'd much rather hang out with JoAnna Garcia Swisher, who plays the vet hospital director. She's hot, hilarious and has a huge heart when it comes to four-legged friends. Just watch what you say about her hubby, New York Yankees star Nick Swisher!

TV Guide Magazine: Don't take this the wrong way, but you've never really looked like the typical "comedy" type.
JoAnna Garcia Swisher: God bless you! Stop! [Laughs]

TV Guide Magazine: You're more like hot romantic drama. Or teen angst maybe?
Garcia Swisher:I am loving this! A teen-angst drama girl? It's too hard for me to pretend to be cool.

TV Guide Magazine: Do you have comedy heroines?
Garcia Swisher: Tina Fey. I'm absolutely obsessed with her. I love Mary Tyler Moore. People who don't take themselves too seriously.

TV Guide Magazine: Do the animals on set affect filming?
Garcia Swisher: Not as much as the humans! [Laughs] They're so freakin' professional.... I feel lucky to have these animals on the show because they offer that little extra goodness.

TV Guide Magazine: Do you have pets?
Garcia Swisher: I have four dogs and a horse. And that's just a small portion of my brood. At one point, I had like 11 animals [from rescues]. I'm that crazy girl. My husband was like "Another one?!"

TV Guide Magazine: Speaking of, how is married life?
Garcia Swisher: Amazing. He makes everything better.

TV Guide Magazine: Are you a total sports girl now?
Garcia Swisher: I am a total Nick Swisher girl! I'm behind my man, and if you say anything about him, I will come at you. The Yankees security guards keep a close eye on me! [Laughs]

Animal Practice airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on NBC.
