Jim Belushi After a failed hourlong legal series, Jim Belushi is returning to his roots: half-hour comedy. The 'According to Jim' star is teaming with 'Murphy Brown' creator Diane English for a new project at ABC Studios.

According to Deadline, Belushi and English will co-write the project. The new sitcom centers on Belushi as a single dad with teen offspring. No network has been announced.

Belushi recently starred in CBS's legal dramedy 'The Defenders' alongside Jerry O'Connell, but is best known for 'According to Jim,' which ran for a seemingly impossible eight seasons on ABC. He joins a bevvy of former sitcom stars prepping returns to TV.

Tim Allen is headlining this fall's 'Last Man Standing,' one of ABC's many comedies about men, and Kirstie Alley is in talks to headline an ABC comedy pilot. Roseanne Barr is also at work on her sitcom return with 'Downwardly Mobile.'

Also making a return to TV: Bill Paxton. According to the History Channel, the 'Big Love' star will appear opposite Kevin Costner in 'The Hatfields and the McCoys.' Let's see if that History project will actually air on the network (unlike the 'Kennedys' fiasco).

Tell us: Are you happy Jim Belushi is returning to comedy?
