According to their report, Cole is expected to return to the judges' panel this Wednesday as auditions continue in New Jersey.
Supposedly Cole has worked out her visa issues, and bossman Simon Cowell made a case to network Fox to keep her on, which means co-host-turned-judge Nicole Scherzinger will go back to co-hosting again.
Without comment from Fox or Cowell since news of Cole's dismissal broke over a week ago, speculation about why she was let go has ranged from fights, lack of chemistry with fellow judge Paula Abdul and a too-heavy accent for American audiences to understand.
But having already taped four audition shows with Cole, it was a production concern to have such a big switch-up so late in the game.
The News of the World's insider said: "This is the biggest surprise of the lot -- Cheryl is back. Who could possibly have predicted this? It appeared that Simon had dumped Cheryl for good. But behind the scenes Simon has been wooing Cheryl."
"And key executives at Fox all realized they had made a big mistake. They have been watching the tapes of her at the American auditions and realizing that she could be a huge star over [here]."
Are you excited Cheryl is (maybe) back? Or just over all the news about the show before it's even started?
