Grey's Anatomy Recap: Take It Back

Date February 27, 2014

Someone got married on the Grey's Anatomymidseason premiere, but it probably wasn't the couple you were expecting.

Picking up moments after Jackson interrupted April's wedding, Thursday's episode found the duo running from the nuptials to spend their lives together. However, that apparently didn't work out since April ran away from Jackson just hours later — and weeks later, they are no longer together at the hospital.

But they aren't the only couple dealing with issues in the wake of the wedding. Arizona finally blows up at Callie over her wife always wanting to fix her. When Callie asks that they continue the discussion at home, Arizona says that's not her home anymore. Ben finally tells Bailey that he didn't leave the L.A. program because he was afraid, he did it to take care of her. Meredith gets angry with Derek over the call from POTUS because it means he's going back on his promise to work less. Not related to couples, but Shane has been put on probation after nearly killing Alex's father, Jimmy.

Three weeks later, Callie and Arizona have found a new house to live in. Even though they recognize that it could just be a band aid on their problems, they think it's a step in the right direction. Ben has joined the residency program at Grey Sloan, so he can continue being a rock star. And Meredith pretty much gives Derek her blessing to work for the president, who had unearthed a big secret about McDreamy: He pays money to the family of a childhood rival who was paralyzed after Derek cross-checked him during ice hockey when they were younger. See, there are no little Shepherds running around!

In other couples drama, when Jimmy's estranged wife shows up, Alex introduces Jo as his fiancé, which scares the hell out of her, namely because she didn't realize he proposed before the wedding. Jo explains that she's not ready to take the next step, which will likely end up causing a lot of strife because of a new rule instituted at the hospital that says subordinates are no longer allowed to date their superiors unless they were married prior to the rule coming into effect. This all springs from a complaint filed by one of the doctors, though it remains to be seen exactly which doctor.

The new rule will also out Jackson and April who — dun, dun, dun — secretly got married and haven't told anyone for three weeks.
