But now, the 24-year-old Californian is making a play for solo success: EW.com reports that Rivera has scored a record deal with Columbia Records.
Rivera is the third star of the hit series to go solo. 'Glee' castmates Matthew Morrison (Will Shuester) and Mark Salling (Puck) have already released their own albums -- while many fans of Broadway belter Michele remain hopeful she'll announce a record deal soon.
While portraying the Cheerios villain whose role grew substantially in season 2, Rivera has been a versatile vocalist on 'Glee,' rocking covers from ABBA to Amy Winehouse. But there's no word yet on the musical style she'll aim for when she enters the studio for her debut album.
In an online interview she gave when 'Glee' became a hit, Rivera described how the music of Michael Jackson and Paula Abdul influenced her as a kid, adding, "I would love to release my own album someday....I can die happy when that happens."
As 'Glee' takes a hiatus for the summer, Rivera and her co-stars kicked off their live tour last weekend in Los Angeles, singing and dancing to a sold-out crowd of Gleeks.
