According to Variety, the series will take the children's game -- you know, running around a circle of chairs until the music stops, with each person sitting down except the one unlucky player who doesn't have a chair -- to new "physically demanding" lengths.
The show, from Gurin Co. and 405 Prods., may include multiple rounds on an indoor obstacle course. Sounds like 'Wipe Out' meets ... chairs?
The project's format was created by Phil Gurin, Richard Joel and Deena Dill. Gurin's other reality productions include 'Shark Tank' and 'The Singing Bee.'
This is outside The CW's normal reality/unscripted fare, which normally features fashion models and celebrities. The premise is a bit silly, but 'Wipe Out' has been a solid performer for ABC. Given how poorly 'H8R' has been performing -- both with viewers and critics -- a change for The CW would be smart.
Would you watch 'Extreme Musical Chairs'?
