Date August 22, 2013

By Tim Kenneally

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Comedy Central certainly picked the right person to enter uncensored territory with.

Comedian Dave Attell has been tapped to host the network's first-ever uncensored, weekly late-night stand-up series, the network said Thursday.

The as-yet-untitled, eight-episode series, which Attell and 3 Arts Entertainment will executive produce, will feature Attell and his comedy colleagues performing "uncensored and unfiltered," according to the network.

Familiar comedians and up-and-coming comics will be featured performing sets on the series, which will also include unscripted, interstitial elements.

In addition to the series, Attell will star in a one-hour special, which will also premiere next year.

"When I was first approached for this, I thought someone said 'Dave Chappelle,'" Comedy Central president, content development and original programming Kent Alterman said of the new partnership with Attell. "I immediately said yes. I love Dave Attell, too, so it's fine."
