LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - The CW has ordered the new drama shows "The 100," "The Tomorrow People," "Star-Crossed" and "Reign." It also renewed the freshman series "The Carrie Diaries" and announced a fourth season of "Nikita."

The announcements came a week ahead of the network's upfront presentation to advertisers, where it will unveil its full 2013-14 slate.

"The 100," from writer/executive producer Jason Rothenberg, takes place 97 years after a nuclear war has destroyed civilization. A spaceship housing the lone human survivors sends 100 juvenile delinquents back to Earth to investigate the possibility of re-colonizing the planet. The series is based upon the forthcoming "The Hundred" book series, written by Kass Morgan.

"The Tomorrow People," meanwhile, is based on the UK series of the same title. The series revolves around several young people from around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution. They possess special powers, including the ability to teleport and communicate with each other telepathically. Together, they work to defeat the forces of evil. Greg Berlanti and Julie Plec are executive producing, with Phil Klemmer ("Chuck") writing and executive producing.

"Reign" tells the story of Mary Queen of Scots' rise to power after she arrives in France as a teenager. Adelaide Kane and Tony Regbo star.

"Star-Crossed," formerly called "Oxygen," revolves around a human girl and an alien boy, after he and eight others of his kind are integrated into a suburban high school after being consigned to an internment camp. Aimee Teagarden and Matt Lanter lead the cast.
