This "Charlie Sheen gets a new television show" thing is still happening, somehow. The latest on the troubled star's newest project, a TV adaptation of the 2003 Adam Sandler/Jack Nicholson movie, is that 'The Drew Carey Show' creator Bruce Helford is on board to run the new series.
According to Deadline, Helford is the number one candidate to usher Sheen back to stardom, though the decision is not yet final. Helsford previously worked on 'The Drew Carey Show' and 'George Lopez.'
Lionsgate TV announced last month that the winning warlock would officially return to TV following his very public battle with 'Two and a Half Men' creator Chuck Lorre as 'Anger Management''s tough therapist who is angrier than his mild-mannered patient.
"I chose 'Anger Management' because, while it might be a big stretch for me to play a guy with serious anger management issues, I think it is a great concept," Sheen said in a July statement. "It also provides me with real ownership in the series, a certain amount of creative control and the chance to be back in business with one of my favorite movie producers of all time, Joe Roth."
Tell us: Are you still shocked that this is actually happening?
