'Breaking Bad' Producer-Writer Sam Catlin Re-Ups With Sony Pictures TV for New Overall Deal

Date June 11, 2013

By Tim Kenneally

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - "Breaking Bad" producer Sam Catlin isn't breaking up with Sony Pictures Television.

As "Breaking Bad" hurtles toward its final episodes in August, Catlin - who serves as co-executive producer and has written several episodes for the AMC meth drama - will remain with SPTV via a new two-year overall deal.

Catlin will continue to develop projects for SPTV and has signed onto the staff of Fox's upcoming series "Rake" as co-executive producer. The series, which stars Greg Kinnear as a brilliant but flawed criminal defense attorney, is produced in part, like "Breaking Bad," by SPTV.

In addition to "Breaking Bad," which he joined for its second season, Catlin was previously an executive story editor on Fox's "Canterbury's Law" and a story editor on NBC's "Kidnapped." He also wrote the screenplay for the indie comedy feature "The Great New Wonderful."

Catlin is represented by United Talent Agency and attorney Ken Richman.
