Barbara Walters recovering from head injury

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Barbara Walters is recovering after falling in Washington, D.C. last weekend where she was attending inaugural events, her employer ABC said on Tuesday.

"The View" host stumbled on the stairs at the British ambassador's home on Saturday. Walters, who is 83, cut her temple and banged her head. She remains in the hospital with a slight fever.

"I am running a low-grade fever and the doctors are keeping me in the hospital until my temperature is normal," Walters said in a statement. "I'm pleased to say that it is going in the right direction and I will be home soon."

She also thanked all those "who have called, written and been concerned about me."

On Tuesday's edition of "The View," co-host Whoopi Goldberg said doctors advised the veteran ABC News journalist to concentrate on her recovery and not her grueling work schedule.

"They want her to take it easy," Goldberg said.
