Andrew Dice Clay
HBO and Martin Scorsese are putting together quite the supergroup for their rock 'n' roll drama pilot.
Andrew "Dice" Clay, P.J. Byrne, Joe Caniano and more have been added to Scorsese's next project for HBO, a music-themed period piece set against the backdrop of the 1970s. They join a cast that already includes Bobby Cannavale, Olivia Wilde, and Ray Romano.
In the untitled pilot, Cannavale plays Richie Finestra, the boss of a fictional record label looking for the next new sound while disco and punk rock are breaking out.
Raunchy comic Clay will play Frank "Buck" Rogers, a cocaine-addicted owner of a chain of radio stations. Byrne (Intelligence) is on board as the head of legal for Finestra's record label, and Joe Caniano (Boardwalk Empire) has been cast as Finestra's chauffeur.
Other casting includes Ato Essandoh as former singer Lester Grimes, Robert Funaro as mobster Tony Del Greco, James Jagger as punk-rocker Kip Stevens, Birgitte Sorenson as actress Ingrid, and J.C. Mackenzie as Finestra's partner Skip Fontaine.
