According to ABC's San Francisco affiliate, Trebek chased a burglar at his hotel at 2:30AM on Wednesday morning, causing his Achilles tendon to suddenly snap. He reportedly fell and also injured his other leg. Trebek was staying at a San Francisco hotel while hosting the National Geographic World Championship.

The female burglar entered Trebek's room and took cash and a bracelet his mom gave him, among other items. Some items were stashed near an ice machine and Trebek chased the woman down the hallway.

ABC 7 reports a 56-year-old white female was arrested and charged with felony burglary and possession of stolen property. All of Trebek's items, except the cash and bracelet, were recovered.

Trebek will have surgery on Friday and will be in a cast for about six weeks.
